Nokia PC Suite USB Phone Parent component doesn’t install
Issue
The phone does not get installed properly. “USB Phone Parent” missing.
Solution
Remove all Nokia related software (PC suite, PC connectivity, cable driver, Nokia modem driver etc)
Connect your phone to your PC
Identify the appropriate INF driver file for the phone by using devcon software (if not installed, do it first)
devcon drivernodes USB\*
Locate USB\VID_0421* (nokia driver) and copy the location of its INF file (Usually c:\windows\inf\oemxx.inf)
Uninstall the Nokia driver (with Windows Device Manager or the following command
devconv remove USB\VID_0421*
Remove the INF file you found before
Reboot the computer
Reinstall PC Suite 6.85.14.1 but don’t connect the phone
Reboot the computer again
Connect the phone
You might get an installation problem but not the the “famous” USB phone Parent cannot install
Go to the windows device manager and update manually the pilot of all failed drivers related to the Nokia
Device manager ->install from a specific source (experimented user) -> choose the pilot to install (last bullet) -> select the 6.85.14.1 driver and not the 6.86.9 one
Disconnect the phone and re-connect it.
