Outlook cache mode time interval
It’s possible to control the time interval that Outlook uses against Exchange
Outlook uses three different timers to control Exchange Mode:
– Download
– Upload
– Maximum
Download timer is in charge of change occurs in server side mailbox, for example: getting email.
As default, Exchange 2007 waits 30 seconds before synchronizing changes to client.
Upload timer is in charge of synchronizing changes from outlook 2007 to exchange 2007 server.
As default, outlook 2007 waits 15 seconds before synchronizing changes to exchange 2007 server.
Maximum timer is in charge of synchronizing changes no matter how much time left from last synchronization.
As default, Maximum timer waits 60 seconds before synchronizing.
In order to edit timers, registry keys should be change (backup registry first):
1. Open Start > Run > type “regedit”
2. In registry editor browse to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\<office_version>\Outlook\Cached Mode
3.Edit Download timer in (Default value 30 seconds):
Value name: Download
Value type: REG_DWORD
Default value: 0000001e
Edit Upload timer in (Default value 15 seconds):
Value name: Upload
Value type: REG_DWORD
Default value: 0000000f
Edit Maximum timer in (Default value 60 seconds):
Value name: Maximum
Value type: REG_DWORD
Default value: 0000003c
