Create a bootable Windows installation USB drive
Preriquists :
- 8+ GB USB Drive
- DiskPart.exe (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0FD9788A-5D64-4F57-949F-EF62DE7AB1AE)
- A Windows computer
Process :
- Connect the thumb drive (well, you knew this would happen, don’t you ?)
- Press Windows + R, type “diskpart” and validate (wait for diskpart prompt to be ready)
- Enter “list disk” and validate. I’ll list all drives connected to your computer.
- Enter “select disk <disknumber>” where <disknumber> is the number next to your thumbdrive in the previous list (eg: select disk 1) and validate
- Enter “clean” and validate
- Enter “create partition primary” and validate
- Enter “clean” and validate
- Enter “format fs=fat32 quick” and validate
- Enter “assign” and validate
Here you go, from now on, you can copy all the files from the install DVD to your USB drive and boot on it on any other computer (that is able to do so) to perform the installation.
